I am having a little trouble understanding the point of such a jewel. A Past Masters Jewel shows the Masonic Community that you are a PM and a RA jewel shows that you are a member whilst a charity jewel shows you have supported the relevant charity, all of them marking a personal acheivment whereas this jewel does not show anything about you apart from the fact that you can afford a jewel. Or am i missing something?

It will show our brothers in another 100 years that we were there for the last hundred year celebration...........

The Lodge records will show that anyway - and the likelihood that all data about everything and everyone will be instantly available to all on demand, or it might just be scratched on the remains of a charred radioactive stone somwhere!

It will be easier for them to just look across the Lodge room...................

Visited a Lodge last night & saw a number of brethren sporting them. The Jewel looked OK, but was definitely spoilt by the huge blue ribbon. Will not be on my list to Santa, just too much bling.

Our Lodge has decided it will present a Centenary Jewel to candidates Raised during the centenary year... two for definite, with another a possibility. I felt that this was a nice gesture.

I've given in and bought one...

Sorry to restart an older thread, but I have just joined the forum to try and establish what, if any, of the purchase price of the Tercentenary jewel head in a charitable direction. This seemed to be the most relevant discussion. I have noticed a few people sporting the jewel recently and our charity steward has encouraged all members to take the plunge. Any insight would be greatly appreciated .

I've never seen any mention of a charitable donation being part of the purchase price and that would be unlikely if it was.

Yes, I have bought the collar version to donate, delivery should be in May , plus 24 breast ones for the M.M.s in my Lodges and a silver one for myself (it's in a commemorative box). It's an unique occasion and should be celebrated accordingly.

Did you know that all Freemasons who are members during the tercentenary year are entitled to wear the jewel in perpetuity, not only MMs; EAs and FCs may wear it once Raised.
