That was partly in jest, as everything seems to have a tie attached nowadays! However, in this case, sale of ties, pins and booklets is what pays for the Association's administration, web site, postage etc. The restriction on wearing the tie only in Atholl lodges does seem a little self defeating, while I find that wearing the pin starts conversations with other wearers when out visiting, that you perhaps wouldn't otherwise have.
