Panos 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2021 Hello there I am an interested in the Ancient and Primitive Oriental Rite of Misraïm-Memphis and I have already spesk with them to go out for a coffee and the details of my initiation (when and where). I would like to share your experience when you initiated in a lodge and also, what's your opinion about Misraïm-Memphis rite and what are the differences between it and Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. Is already from you a member in it ? How is it in order with other masonic orders ? Because I have heard rumours that are saying that Misraïm-Memphis is not a normal Order and has nothing to do with Freemasonry and other bullshits. Not quite so Uninitiated 11 Report post Posted October 18, 2021 Hi Panos, and welcome As I understand it, Misraïm-Memphis is not recognized as a legitimate Masonic organization and considered irregular by most mainstream regular Masonic bodies. Certainly, it is not on the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) list of recognised bodies (which is my Grand Lodge).
Ozymandius 13 Report post Posted October 18, 2021 Good morning Panos and welcome to the forum. The A&P Rite of M-M is indeed a legitimate rite and is practised in several parts of the World. In those places it is just as valid as UGLE ad their rituals. It is however not in amity with UGLE or the United States (where the Grand College of Rites claim they are the only body able to demonstrate it) It is also not in amity wth the Ancient and Accepted Rite on the grounds they claim it imitates their degrees (despite the fact it supercedes them) Therefore should you join you will only be able to visit other Lodges of the A&P Rite. Mike Martin 143 Report post Posted October 19, 2021 I suppose the simplest way to explain it is that to the non-Freemason, on the outside, it looks as if there is one entity called Freemasonry but in reality there are actually 100s and they do not all interact or talk to each other. Most of the variants of M&M fall into the category of small and relatively isolated as they tend not to be recognised by the mainstream and oldest version of Freemasonry where they are. So for example it is quite possible that the Lodge you will be talking to will have not been chartered by https://www.grandlodge.gr/ which is the Grand Lodge of Greece that most versions of Freemasonry around the world do recogise and interact with. In reality this will have little impact on your Freemasonry if you only intend to fraternise around its Lodges but you will not be allowed to visit Lodges under Grand Lodges that do not extend recognition to yours. It's like everything, the impact is determined by what you're looking for.
